TERMINAL OS

Terminal OS is an experimental web-based operating system interface that completely abandons traditional GUI paradigms in favour of a keyboard-first, highly technical aesthetic.

The goal was to create a web experience that feels like booting up an industrial machine. Every interaction requires intentionality. The visual language uses stark contrast, monospaced typography, and strict compartmentalisation to present information without any decorative fluff.

The Problem

Modern web interfaces are optimised for friction-free consumption. Every affordance is telegraphed with soft gradients, rounded corners, and animated microinteractions. Terminal OS asks: what if we removed all of that?

The Solution

A window manager built entirely with CSS grid and keyboard events. No mouse required for the core flows. The colour palette is two values: #0A0A0A and #F5F0E8. Every piece of data is boxed into a cell.
